Edit: It wasn't clear, but the start time is 6:30pm. The regular schedule for the evening is over at https://www.18vanguard.org/post/weekly-routine-orders-24-37
Edit 2: Some comments from HMCS York:
Please do not call the Duty Phone at the vehicle gate - this reaches a day-staff worker and not anyone able to raise the gate in the evening.
Do not park in the 3 labelled parking spots "CO," "XO" or "COXN" located near the hydrant or labelled parking spots along the fences.
Cancelled VANGENs:
- 24-29 Technology and Digital Learning Centre Courses
- 24-28 Awards Presented for 2023-2024 Training Year
- 24-19 CTC Course Selections (Round 1)
- 24-10 Summer Training Courses
On 10 Sep 2024, RCSCC Vanguard will hold a 'Muster by the Open List.' Historically, this event was used to double-check that all the Sailors a ship had signed up were still on board. In practice, it's an old name for an 'Administration Night.'
All Cadets, both experienced, and new, are to report on board and go through an 'In Routine' for the year, dropping by all the relevant tables to ensure that they complete all required paperwork as well as short-cut any requests that they might have for the training year.
Parents for Cadets under the age of 18 are requested to attend. Much of the paperwork requires Parent signatures as well.
Administration
For all Cadets returning, Validation Forms are used to ensure that all the information we have on a Cadet is correct. New to this year are dietary preferences, and answering if the Cadet has a Social Insurance Number and Bank Account (for paying Cadets when they apply to events that offer payment). Cadets without a valid file may not participate in advanced training opportunities, could have their promotions delayed, or even have membership revoked.
Attendance is used for tracking progress in training. Ensure that your attendance is logged at each event. If you arrive late, please ensure that the Ship's Office is aware of your arrival.
Regulating
A reminder for traffic outside of HMCS York: traffic heading westbound may receive a red stop light at the lights at the end of the driveway, but traffic heading eastbound does NOT receive a red stop light. Drivers making a left turn into HMCS York are reminded to not assume that because they will receive a red stop light, that traffic approaching will slow to a stop - they will not. It is recommended that traffic heading westbound to HMCS York travel further west and turn left onto Remembrance Drive, travel through Coronation Park, then turn right into HMCS York.
HMCS York has a visitor log at the brow. Completion of the visitor log is not required by Cadets and parents. RCSCC Vanguard may circulate a log instead. All parents are requested to go upstairs and remain in the gallery for the time they are visiting.

Navy League of Canada
Parents: you don't have to sit in the stands and just watch things. You can join the Navy League of Canada as a member, and help with the civilian-side of the program by helping with the fundraising and support of the program. See Mrs. English for joining as a volunteer.
Deck
All previous New Entries from last year are to be divided between Courageous/Furious (Guard) and Glorious (Band). Please make your intentions known which division you wish to join.
All new Entries to this point will be in Victorious Division.
Medical
Some Cadets joining will need to complete a Detailed Health Questionnaire. An addressed and stamped envelope will be issued with the form. Answer the form as completely as you can and mail the envelope. Do NOT return the form to RCSCC Vanguard.
All other Cadets, please indicate if there has been any changes to your medical or physiological health since last year.
New Recruits
We have processed the applications from the summer and we can still sign up more Cadets. If the online registration process isn't working, we can process the application using a paper application starting on 10 Sep 2024.
To complete the application, please ensure that you have a proof of age document (PassPort,Birth Certificate or other valid ID).
If you have an OHIP, or other public health Card, we prefer to have that information on file. Private insurance is usually 'extra,' or on top of, base medical services provided by OHIP. If medical care is required by a Cadet and base medical insurance is not on file, the costs may need to be carried by the parents until proper medical insurance is found and utilized.
