Update: Initial applications have been made. Late applications will be accepted at a first-come, first served basis. There is a much smaller chance applications will be accepted by HQ as they will consider them only as the first round applications are all filled.


For Cadets that complete at the minimum of Phase II this year will have the opportunity of taking training at a Cadet Training Centre, or the Technology and Distance Learning Centre during the summer. Below are the courses, locations, languages and prerequisites to each course.

Air Rifle Marksmanship Instructor

What: The Air Rifle Marksmanship Instructor Course provides cadets an opportunity to further personal marksmanship knowledge and skills, and develop as a specialist with the skills and subject matter knowledge to perform the duties of an Air Rifle Marksmanship Instructor. Activities include marksmanship techniques, instructional techniques, and coaching. Cadets attending this course will also have an opportunity to progress in their marksmanship level qualification.y,

Basic Coder

The Basic Coder course provides cadets the opportunity to explore coding and digital creativity. Activities include learning to use block code in Minecraft and coding a VR robot. Cadets will develop a digital community, compete in eSports competitions, and engage in discussions with the Canadian Armed Forces.

Prerequisites: Year 2+


Basic Microdrone Operator

The Basic Microdrone Operator course provides cadets the opportunity to learn about drones in the Canadian Armed Forces, prepare for the Transport Canada Pilot Certificate - Basic Operations exam, obtain their Transport Canada Restricted Operator Certificate (Aeronautical) and explore careers involving drones.

Cadets attending this course, if successful, can achieve Transport Canada certification.

When: 11 to 22 Aug

Prerequisites: Year 2+

Recommended: Training Year 3+ as course content may be challenging for junior cadets.


Cyber Safety and Security Team Leader

The Cyber Safety and Security Team Leader course provides cadets with the opportunity to engage with cyber security experts in the Canadian Armed Forces, recognize security measures in Windows and Linux, and participate in a cybersecurity competition.

Cadets attending this course, if successful, can achieve the Cyber Leader certification. This will help them practice safe online behaviours and be prepared to lead cybersecurity activities in their corps or squadron.

When: 28 Jul to 8 Aug

Prerequisites: Year 2+; Laptop / computer able to operate VMware player (not compatible with Chromebooks)


Drill and Ceremonial Instructor

The Drill and Ceremonial Instructor Course provides cadets an opportunity to develop as a specialist with the skills and subject matter knowledge to perform the duties of a Drill and Ceremonial Instructor. Activities include advanced drill, instructional techniques and leadership in the conducting of parades and ceremonies.

Prerequisites: Year 3+


Fitness and Sports Instructor

The Fitness and Sports Instructor Course provides cadets an opportunity to further personal fitness and healthy living knowledge and skills, and develop as a specialist with the skills and subject matter knowledge to perform the duties of a Fitness and Sports Instructor. Activities include personal fitness, healthy living, conducting the Cadet Fitness Assessment, and leading physical activities.

Introduction to Drill and Ceremonial

The Introduction to Drill and Ceremonial Course engages cadets with the chance to enhance their leadership abilities and deepen their knowledge and skills in drill and ceremonial practices acquired in the program.

Where: CTC Blackdown, CTC Valcartier (French)

When: 7 to 18 Jul (English and French), 22 Jul to 2 Aug, 6 to 17 Aug

Prerequisites: Year 2+


Introduction to Fitness and Sports

The Introduction to Fitness and Sports Course offers cadets a chance to refine skills acquired in the Corps / Squadron Program, aiding in fitness and sports training within the Corps / Squadron Program. Additionally, participants learn about embracing a healthy lifestyle.

Where: CTC Blackdown, CTC Valcartier (English and French)

When: 7 to 18 Jul, 21 Jul to 1 Aug, 4 to 16 Aug

Prerequisites: Year 2+


Introduction to Marksmanship

The Introduction to Marksmanship Course enables cadets to acquire specialized skills and knowledge in marksmanship, facilitating their participation in zone and regional marksmanship competitions. It equips them to mentor junior cadets in marksmanship while advancing the skills learned in the program.

When: 7 to 18 Jul, 21/22 Jul to 1/2 Aug, 4/6 to 16/17 Aug

Prerequisites: Year 2+


Introduction to Military Band

The Introduction to Military Band Course allows cadets to continue honing their understanding and proficiency in music, drill, ceremonial practices, and leadership skills acquired through the corps / squadron program or regional activities.

Military Band Musician

The Military Band Musician Course provides cadets an opportunity to develop music skills to support participation in and / or leading corps / squadron military bands. Activities include music training and band activities such as music theory, music technique, band drill, leadership and performing ensemble music. Cadets attending this course will also have the opportunity to progress in their music proficiency level qualifications.

Prerequisites: Year 3+; Music Proficiency Level: Musician Level II


Nova Quest

The Nova Quest course provides cadets the opportunity to explore the Canadian Aerospace industry, its exciting past, and the potential future for advanced space technologies.

Activities include simulating life in space, and its intricacies in survival, communication, and exploration, identifying celestial objects, and exploring new technologies in the aerospace world.

When: 11 to 22 Aug

Prerequisites: Year 2+


Pipe Band Musician

The Pipe Band Musician Course provides cadets an opportunity to develop music skills to support participation in and / or leading corps / squadron pipe bands. Activities include music training and band activities such as music theory, music technique, band drill, leadership and performing pipe band music. Cadets attending this course will also have the opportunity to progress in their music proficiency level qualifications.

Prerequisites: Year 3+; Music Proficiency Level: Pipes and Drums Level II


Sail 1

Sail Course 1 provides cadets an opportunity to develop sailing skills and participate in Small Craft Operator Program (SCOP) training. Cadets attending this course, if successful, can achieve qualifications in CANSail 1–2, and SCOP Module 1 Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC).

Where: HMCS Ontario, HMCS Quadra

When: 7 to 25 Jul, 30 Jul to 17 Aug

Prerequisites: Year 3+; Music Proficiency Level: Pipes and Drums Level II


Sail 2

Sail Course 2 provides cadets an opportunity to further develop their sailing skills. Cadets attending this course, if successful, can achieve qualifications in CANSail 3–4, Standard First Aid, and SCOP Module 3 (Power Boat Operator).

When: 7 Jul to 17 Aug

Prerequisites: Year 3+; CanSail 1–2, SCOP Module 1 and 2


Sail 3

Sail Course 3 provides cadets an opportunity to enhance their sailing skills and become qualified sail instructors. Cadets attending this course, if successful, can achieve qualifications in CANSail 5–6, SCOP Module 4 (Powerboat Rescue), Sail Canada Fundamental Training Course, Instructor Clinic, and Safe Sport training.

When: 7 Jul to 17 Aug

Prerequisites: Year 4+, CanSail 4, SCOP Module 3, Standard First Aid (Cadets may be loaded on S3, however, SFA is a requirement to attain Sail Canada CANSail Instructor qualification. Those cadets who complete the course but do not have SFA will need to complete it before being qualified as a sail instructor.)


Seamanship

The Seamanship Course offers cadets the chance to expand upon their previously acquired seamanship skills from the corps level and engage in advanced seamanship activities. These activities encompass ropework, rigging, serving as a crew member in whaler operation, participating in a day sail on a training vessel, and learning naval communication. Successful completion of this course enables cadets to attain Communications 1 and 2 qualifications.

Prerequisites: Year 2+


Ship's Boat Operator

The Ship’s Boat Operator Course provides cadets an opportunity to develop advanced seamanship skills and participate in Small Craft Operator Program (SCOP) training. Activities include ropework, marine navigation, naval visual communication training and a multi-day on-water trip. Cadets attending this course, if successful, can achieve qualifications in SCOP2 (Attain the ROC (M) with DSC Endorsement), SCOP 3 (Operate a Powerboat with an Outboard Engine) and obtain a standard first aid qualification.

Prerequisites: Year 2+


Small Craft Coxswain

The Small Craft Coxswain Course provides cadets the opportunity to learn about vessel operations, restrictions, and navigation. They will also learn about aspects of on-water communication, such as distress signals, Maritime Mobile Service, and Radio Operations.

Cadets attending this course, if successful, can achieve SCOP Module 1 (Transport Canada Pleasure Craft Operator Competency) and SCOP Module 2 (Transport Canada Restricted Radio Operator's Certificate [Maritime]).

Cadets attending this course, if successful, can achieve Transport Canada certification.

Support Services Team Leader

The Support Services Team Leader course provides cadets the opportunity to gain an understanding of the internal operations of cadet corps and squadron and how to provide support in areas such as Supply and Administration in leadership positions.

Cadets attending this course, if successful, can achieve WHMIS Certification.
