Apply now for an appointment to the rank of PO1 or CPO2!


We're looking for Vanguard's next CPO2s and PO1s that will help lead in the 2026-2027 training year. Successful applicants will be appointed to a role to be determined at a later time. 


Applicant pool 


Those applying for an appointment at the rank of Chief Petty Officer Second Class (CPO2): 

  • Must currently hold the rank of PO1

  • Must have completed Phase 4


Those applying for an appointment at the rank of Petty Officer First Class (PO1): 

  • Must currently hold the rank of PO2

  • Must have completed Phase 4


Application process


All those eligible and interested are to provide the following documents in their applications:


  • A resume outlining experience and qualifications relevant to the desired rank appointment

  • A one-page cover letter outlining why you are interested in the position and how you meet the criteria of the desired rank appointment

  • Any relevant supporting documents (optional)  


Documents should be sent to the Board Chair, Lt(N) Cochrane at patrick.cochrane@cadets.gc.ca with the subject line “(CPO2) or (PO1) application – Last name, First name” no later than June 11, 2026, at 2359 hrs.

The timeline for this competition is as follows: 


  • Posting date – June 1, 2026 

  • Closing date – June 11, 2026 

  • Virtual Interviews – June 13, 2026 

  • Decisions – June 16, 2026
