Joining RCSCC Vanguard

To join RCSCC Vanguard, youth must be between the ages of 12-18 and be a legal resident of Canada (valid VISA, PR or citizen).

To provide a better program to all cadets, RCSCC Vanguard only accepts new applications twice a year, in September and January. Once the registration form is complete, parents/guardians will be contacted regarding next steps and the period of enrolment in which your future cadet will begin.

The commitment

Weekly training

RCSCC Vanguard parades from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesdays from September-June

Discipline

Cadets are expected to maintain a set standard of dress and deportment

Willingness to participate

Cadets engage in classes, activities and challenges that require active participation

The training
Nautical

Some of the nautical subjects we teach includes history and the culture of the Royal Canadian Navy, Knots, Bends, Hitches, Blocks and Tackles, Semaphore, Signal Flags, Radio Communication, Boat Operation, and Pilotage/Chartwork.

Skills training

RCSCC Vanguard offers specialized training in many different skills preparing cadets for future careers. Skills training includes:

  • Music

  • Marksmanship

  • Precision drill

  • Leadership

  • Interpersonal relationships
