RCSCC Vanguard will be participate in an Area activity involving several Sea Cadet Corps at Blackdown CTC. Cadets will participate in Advanced Seamanship, Small Craft Operation Program (Pleasure Craft Operator Card or Restricted Operator Certificate [Maritime VHF Radio]), or a basic familiarization program.


Deadline to apply is THIS FRIDAY the 17th of April.


Where: Meet bus at HMCS York, 659 Lake Shore Blvd. W., Toronto, ON M5V 1A7. Transport to Blackdown CTC will be provided.

When:

  • From: 1745 on 22 May 26 - Bus is to DEPART at 1815

  • To: 1545 on 24 May 26 - Bus is to ARRIVE at 1545

Date: 22 to 24 May 26

Dress:

  • Officers: NCD/NECU

  • Adult Staff: Civilian with RCSCC Vanguard ballcap

  • Cadets: C5, Civilian with RCSCC Vanguard ballcap


All participants are to complete the attached permission form: Parental Consent Op Phoenix.pdf. The form can be submitted to 18sea@cadets.gc.ca or by handing it to the Ships Office on Tuesday. Timely response is required for addition to the SCOP classes.


Full joining instructions will be required later, however it is known that Cadets are encouraged to bring their own sleeping bag/pillow - a bed will be provided, but bedding will not.

Kit List:


  • C5 Uniform with Cadet issued SWAT boots (do not wear parade boots - wear personal sneakers or boots instead if unavailable)

  • Appropriate Civilian attire for Friday and Saturday evening

  • Running shoes

  • Towel

  • Water Bottle

  • Sleeping Bag or blankets

  • Pillow

  • Extra Socks and Underwear

  • Rain Gear

  • Toiletries (Soap/Shampoo/Deodorant)

  • Personal hygiene products

  • Medication (if needed)

  • Combination lock for securing your locker (leave a copy of combination with parents).


Wear civilian clothing on the bus on Friday. Uniform will be worn Saturday and Sunday during the day and bus returning.


Parents please note, that upon arrival at the Corps on Sunday evening, all cadets are to participate in clean-up and putting away of all equipment before they leave.


The Corps is not responsible for any loss, theft or damage to any personal property. Please leave all expensive / valuable items at home (iPads, hand held gaming devices, min DVD players, lap-tops, etc….)
